My lightpainting photography workshop operates in south and mid Wales for individuals and small groups. The workshop will operate in the early evening and late night.
Before sun sets we learn the essentials of night photography in a nearby cafe – such as camera settings, focus techniques, composition tips. As the sun is setting we will reach our destination to compose our photograph – sunset is itself a good photo opportunity, so we will get some of these too. Once fully dark we will take a number of test shots to master the methods we have learned. Finally, we will set up our cameras on the tripod for 60-90 minutes to capture a succession of photographs incorporating a “Pixelstick” light painting tool. Using the techniques learned earlier that afternoon, you will be able to compose these into beautiful and creative photos.
A lightpainting workshop typically comprises 2 hours of tuition in a classrom setting, followed by 3 hours of shooting for real.
This workshop can run anywhere in south of mid Wales with a dark sky, or in darker/sheltered locations in a town or city. Some recommended locations
- Elan Valley
- Pembrokeshire coast
- Gower coast
- Brecon Beacons national park
A non-refundable reservation deposit of £50 is required to book a place.
Please register your interest using the adjacent form and let me know which dates are possible for you. I typically require at least 4 week’s notice ahead of a photography workshop booking.
A successful night photography workshop relies on the weather. If the forecast for our location is poor on the day of the workshop, we can reschedule it for another mutually convenient date or we can stick to using sheltered locations in a town or city.
