Photography Lessons For Beginners
My 1-to-1 photography lesson for beginners is an introduction to photography, tailored to your shooting ability and style – whatever you want to learn, and whatever you want to shoot. I’m very pleased that many of my clients return to me to learn advanced techniques as their skills develop.

My most popular workshop! Join me for a 4 hour introduction to photography. Mastering your camera’s settings, understand the fundamentals of photography and learn how to take sharp images whatever your equipment. You’ll leave inspired and with a solid foundation in photography.
On Location Workshops
Join me on location for a real photoshoot to learn how to get great shots in the field. You’ll learn how to adapt to changing light and changing weather conditions, and get to visit some photogenic locations. These workshops are perfect for landscape, cityscape and seascape photographers.

Lightroom & Photoshop editing
A general purpose online workshop, tailored to your needs. Supply me with your raw files and I will teach you how to edit your images like a pro using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

Due to the variable nature of Welsh weather, this workshop operates only on a standby basis but it’s worth the wait to photograph the incredible dark skies of Wales.

As well as teaching privately, I’m also available for presentations to larger audiences. Camera clubs in south Wales and all over Britain via Zoom frequently call on me for talks and lectures. I’ve also given talks on photography to an eclectic selection of audiences.
As an ambassador for Skylum Software I also delivered a talk on stage at The Photography Show at Birmingham’s NEC and I’m a recurring guest on Luminar Coffee Break, the photography talk show hosted by Robert Vanelli.

Why learn with me
I'm an award-winning professional photographer and have been working full time since 2017, publishing 2 books and delivering lectures and workshops nationwide.
I have taught several hundred photographers just like you, of all ages and abilities. My approach is no-nonsense, minimum jargon as possible, with lots of practical examples to help you understand by doing.
My beginnings with photography were humble and my formative years were spent wrestling with equipment that was beyond my skill level, and frustration that I couldn’t get the camera to do what I wanted it to. I realise now that the best investment you can make in photography is not equipment, but experience. You can throw hundreds if not thousands of pounds at camera bodies, lenses, tripods and such… which is all for nothing if you don’t understand how to capture the shots you want.
I promise you a fun, friendly and non-judgmental environment to practice your craft, ask the questions you need to, and leave inspired to take your photography to the next level.
